Welcome!

We are John Plus Chelsea Photography, a documentary wedding photographer couple specializing in photojournalistic wedding photography in Southern California.  We call the South Bay of Los Angeles home and offer documentary wedding photography in Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, Los Angeles County, and Orange County California.

After meeting in photojournalism school at the University of Missouri, we started dating after realizing our mutual love for f-stops, shutter speeds, beautiful late-afternoon light, and photo adventures in rural Missouri.  We were engaged three years later in October 2011 and got officially hitched in October 2013 in San Clemente, CA.

Together, we have more than 20 years of combined photojournalism experience and shoot every wedding together as a team. We believe our distinct styles of photography complement each other to offer comprehensive coverage of your big day.

Chelsea, who has a Bachelor’s degree in Photojournalism, currently works as a full-time journalist at the Orange County Register.  She has a great eye for the small details in life that others may pass up and her photography reflects it.

John has a Master’s degree in Photojournalism and currently works as a multimedia journalist at City News Service, the country’s largest regional news wire. He has a knack for finding and capturing beautiful light and unique compositions in his photos.

In our time as photojournalists, we have had the opportunity to photograph the gamut of assignments — from kangaroo hunting in the Australian Outback to presidential candidates, Hollywood red carpet events, and professional sporting events. Our work has appeared in news outlets ranging from large metropolitan newspapers to Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and People Magazine.
